Messy Church

M e s s C h u r c h

First Sunday of the Month at 4.00pm

“Messy Church is a fun time for children & their families, a chance to relax & be creative together, & an opportunity to think about the things that matter to us and to God” - Southwater Community Methodist Church Website

At Hanham Methodist Church we have a MESSY CHURCH congregation.

Messy Church is based on the idea of people of all ages and families coming together, and having fun making, worshipping and thinking about God. The reason it is called Messy Church is because no one who comes to church is perfect, our lives are quite 'messy' for many reasons; it is also called 'Messy' because we are going to be making things and we will be getting Messy.

Fromn 4.00pm until 4.45pm there are a whole series of craft activities based around a Bible Story or a theme that you can take part in, from painting to making. Because you and especially any children might get messy, it is strongly recommended that if you are coming, you should wear clothes you dont mind getting a little messy. You are invited to bring your family and join in with us, or to come on your own. We have had three generations of the same family all together, and our oldest attendee who comes on her own is in her 80s. At 4.45pm we move from our Church Hall into the Church for half an hour of reflection and worship led by two young worship leaders and including songs old and new and our Messy Church Puppets. At the end we share in a tea together with sandwiches, cakes and dessert. It is a all in all a great way to be Church and a hands on way to learn about Jesus and the Christian Faith.

Our regular attendance is now about 60 adults and children and we would be delighted to welcome any new people and families. Dates for the coming year are as follows:

2011: 2nd October / 6th November / 4th December

2012: 8th January / February 5th / March 4th / April 1st / May6th / June 3rd / July 1st
